AACDS Certificate in Dermal Therapies

AACDS now offers the AACDS Certificate of Dermal Therapies for busy therapists wishing to improve their knowledge and skills in field of IPL, Microdermabrasion and Chemical Peeling. This certificate is recommended for qualified beauty therapists or nurses who are currently practicing or are considering practicing dermal therapy treatments within a non-medical environment. Upon successful completion of the course, student will be awarded with an AACDS Certificate of Dermal Therapies, an official and recognised IPL/Laser Safety Officers Certificate and a government accredited Statement of Attainment.

For beauty therapists and nurses wishing to work in the field of Cosmetic Medicine, the Advanced Diploma of Cosmetic Dermal Science is the recommended learning pathway/qualification.

Units/Modules Delivered:

The AACDS Certificate of Dermal Therapies consists of the following units/modules from the Adv. Dip. of Cosmetic Dermal Science:

1.1 Dermal Science Theory (1.1A Epidermal Resurfacing Techniques and 1.1B Light-Based Therapies/IPL & Laser Safety Officers’ Certificate)

2.2 Dermal Science Practical (2.2A Perform Microdermabrasion Treatments, 2.2B Perform Chemical Peeling Treatments and 2.2C Perform IPL Photo Rejuvenation and Permanent Hair Reduction Treatments)

Course duration and commitment

The theoretical component of the course is delivered over a 16-week period requiring approximately 6 hours of study per week. The practical component is delivered either as a 10 to 14-day block or over a 13-week period.

Study modes available

The AACDS Certificate of Dermal Therapies is available online with the 10 to 14-day practical component of the course completed in Perth, WA or Sydney NSW.

Further Learning Pathways

The AACDS Certificate of Dermal Therapies curriculum encompasses the ITEC Diploma of Microdermabrasion Treatments and Diploma of IPL and Laser Treatments. Students holding a Diploma in Beauty Therapy will be eligible to sit an additional theory and practical exam conducted by an ITEC International examiner.

Graduates of the AACDS Certificate of Dermal Therapies will also receive credit for the equivalent units into the Advanced Diploma of Cosmetic Dermal Science or the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Cosmetic Nursing, furthering credentials to becoming a fully qualified Dermal Therapist or Cosmetic Nurse.
