IPL/Laser Safety Officer’s Certificate

The IPL/Laser Safety Officer’s Certificate is a theory-based course, which focuses on the clinical aspects of IPL and Laser treatment and the required safety standards as outlined by the Radiation Safety Act 1999. The course is Government Accredited and recognised by the two main Laser authorities; QLD Radiation Health and the Radiological Council of WA as an official Radiation/Laser Safety Officer’s Certificate.

Course Overview and Study Mode

The IPL/Laser Safety Officer’s Certificate is delivered via online lectures, providing students with a flexible learning approach. The curriculum consists of five online lectures and tutorials activities. Assessment is based on 2 clinical studies, tutorial activities and a final online assessment consisting of 80 multiple choice and short-answer questions. The time commitment most students require is 3 to 4 hours per week over a 6-week period.

  • Laser and Light Physics
  • Understanding the mechanics of an IPL system
  • Clinical application of IPL permanent hair reduction
  • Clinical application of IPL photo rejuvenation (treatment of dyschromia and vascular lesions)
  • Laser in cosmetic medicine and dermal therapies
  • Licensing, state regulations and future legislation change
  • IPL and laser risk assessment and management

Please Note: The IPL/Laser Safety Officer’s Certificate is a stand-alone course though is also delivered as part of unit 1.1 Dermal Science Theory in the Advanced Diploma of Cosmetic Dermal Science and the AACDS Certified IPL Therapist / ITEC Diploma of IPL/Laser Treatment.

Awards

On completion of the IPL/Laser Safety Officer’s Certificate, you will receive:

  1. An IPL/Laser Safety Officer’s Certificate (recognised by the Radiological Council of WA and QLD Radiation Health)
  2. A Nationally Recognised (Government Accredited) Statement of Attainment
  3. Credit into the Advanced Diploma of Cosmetic Dermal Science
