Your Lecturers
Belinda Pilmore
Lecturer/Assessor for the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Cosmeceutical Design and Development.
AACDS welcomes Belinda as their newest Lecturer and Assessor for the proposed qualification in Cosmeceutical Design and Development. This course is not yet government-accredited.
Belinda commenced her career as a Naturopath, receiving her Bachelor of Natural Therapies from Southern Cross University. She then established and worked in her own clinic for several years treating a variety of patients and conditions using herbal medicine and homoeopathy.
She moved on from this role into an International organisation to work in a Research and Development role; where she managed the Regulatory Affairs and Product Development on a range of personal care, therapeutic goods and wholistic foods for the Australian market.
Belinda moved into a consultancy role over 3 years ago, where she continues to work with local, national and International companies on Product Development and Regulatory Affairs in cosmetics, therapeutic goods (including complementary medicines, medical devices and sunscreens) and foods. Her role includes liaising with companies on a variety of enquiries such as formulating cosmetics, suncare, organic products, therapeutic goods and wholistic foods. Her role also includes developing personal care products from concept, helping with steps throughout manufacture, developing marketing campaigns through to launch and beyond, and helping companies meet their compliance requirements.
She received a distinction in her Diploma in Cosmetic Science awarded by the Society of Cosmetic Scientists in the UK. Throughout this course, Belinda noticed the differences in the Australian education system and formulations specific to Australia's regulatory requirements and consumer demands. This led to the development of the Vocational Graduate Certificate in Cosmeceutical Design and Development (available through AACDS) and the Diploma in Personal Care Formulation (available through IPCS). Belinda has worked closely with the Department of Education to develop a quality assured training course that is specific to Australian requirements, whilst also ensuring relevance overseas.
In addition to teaching, Belinda actively develops and formulates cosmeceuticals and personal care products for the beauty and natural health professions. This greatly benefits students' learning as Belinda's skills and knowledge remains current and relevant.
She is a member of the Australian Society of Cosmetic Chemists (ASCC), Association of Therapeutic Goods Consultants (ATGC) and an active Member of NASAAs Organic Standards Committee.
