I had been working as a beauty therapist in a dermatology clinic in India, when I decided to advance my knowledge in the field by obtaining a formal qualification. I'm thoroughly convinced of the value of my studies with AACDS, with the opportunity to step into the medical and surgical environment, and fully understand the science of skin health and ageing. I know that I now have a far greater knowledge of the implications of genetic and extrinsic factors for the skin, as a direct result of studying the Human Biology unit. This unit helped me to understand the relationship between organ systems and skin function and appearance, but also became an important base for each of my other units. The Advanced Diploma curriculum allows me to study one unit at a time to fit in with my busy schedule. I thoroughly enjoyed unit 1.1 Dermal Science Theory because of the advanced detail covering IPL physics, clinical aspects of treatment and risk assessment and management. I found this extra training not only essential, but it has renewed my thirst for knowledge, encouraging me to continue with advanced education. The initial IPL training I received was elementary in comparison. I highly recommend the Advanced Diploma or for those interested in IPL, at the very least unit 1.1 Dermal Science Theory.

To enhance my existing knowledge of laser and to receive a formal certificate, I undertook the IPL/Laser Safety Officer's Certificate through AACDS.
