52854WA Graduate Diploma of Dermal Science
The 52854WA Graduate Diploma of Dermal Science is developed for candidates from a beauty or health background wanting to achieve a formal and recognised qualification in dermal science. The objective of the qualification is to provide graduates with the knowledge and hands-on skills to perform a range of safe and effective dermal therapies and meet the employment needs of a modern cosmetic medical clinic. The Dermal Therapist’s Scope of Practice includes patient consultation and assessment, dermatoscopy, laser and light-based therapies, epidermal resurfacing procedures, skin/micro needling and holistic patient care involving the integration between gut health and dermatology.

- Diploma of Beauty Therapy or;
- Diploma minimum in a health related field
- Additional requirements may be determined upon the pre-enrolment interview
- Full-time: approx. 25 hrs/week over 10 months
- Part-time: approx. 12.5 hrs/week over 20 months
- Single unit: approx. 6 hrs/week over a maximum of 2.5 years
- Two-week full-time block for clinical competencies in Dermal Therapies
- Online, with practical training available in Sydney, Perth, Gold Coast, and Melbourne.

CDNSCP02 - Evaluate surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures
CDNMCP01 - Manage and promote the cosmetic practice
CDNIHD01 - Integrate health and dermatology for aesthetic practice
CDNPLT01 - Provide laser and light-based procedures in a cosmetic medical context
CDNPCP02 - Provide chemical resurfacing procedures in a cosmetic medical context
CDNPCM02 - Provide clinical microdermabrasion in a cosmetic medical context
CDNPSN02 - Provide skin needling in a cosmetic medical context
CDNPDD02 - Apply principles of dermatology and dermatoscopy to cosmetic medicine
OPTIONAL CLINICAL PLACEMENT - Clinical Placement (76 hrs)
Practical elements of the following units will also be covered during practical activities:

HLTINF005 - Maintain infection prevention for skin penetration treatments
On completion of the 52854WA Graduate Diploma of Dermal Science, graduates will get access to the following:
